Grateful Family

 

Hi Scott,

I just wanted to say thank you. Over the past seven years you have been kind, courteous, professional, empathetic, understanding (And I'm fairly certain there was probably a couple times you would have chosen to avoid involvement if it were possible : ))

Nevertheless every time and in every circumstance you and the Elms administration were an absolute class act.

The PCA's who helped care for my father are some very special people indeed. Almost all of them have been at the Elms since the day Dad and Jackie first moved in. (photo above, with dog Maxey) This in itself speaks volumes about how the staff feels about who they are working for. As dads needs expanded to more personal types of care, he became comfortable with this more quickly than I would have expected him to. I attribute this to the relationships that each PCA had developed with him. He trusted and bonded with them and he was genuinely happy to see them every day.

In addition, the information and help the PCA's provided to us family members by checking off the chart Cindy Anne created revealing if he ate, of drank, his alertness ect. was invaluable information and I believe wholeheartedly that it contributed to keeping dad around to see 93. 

I'm grateful to the Elms and hope that you will share my appreciation with everyone! I'm going to miss seeing ya'll (and looking forward to when Karaoke Monday's will come back!)

Alicia here, Carol Nielsen's (photo above) daughter. I hope you and all the team in the Grove are doing well.

I wanted to express my deep gratitude for all you did for Mom these last few years. The quality of her life was greatly improved and extended as a result of her coming to the Grove. You were so very kind and at the same time your were a strong advocate for Mom. Your insights and keen eye were invaluable to Mom and all of the family.

Please extend my thanks to your team as well- Flavia, Ismary, Esther, Carmen and all. Your work is so important and tremendously impactful to your residents and their families.

A Birthday Thank You!

Bessie's 95th birthday celebration via Zoom

Dear Scott,

Thank you from Mom (Bessie, photo above), Phil and I for allowing us to visit with Mom today on her birthday. When we were dropping off some things for her and Amelia, who is adorable and kind, asked us if we wanted to see her with your permission, we were so surprised, thrilled and we can't thank both of you enough. Although the quarantine wasn't how we were planning on celebrating Mom's 95th Birthday, today made up for the disappointments, as well as the Zoom visits that Kathleen went out of her way to help make so special. She is ALWAYS so helpful and eager to help.

As we have said before, you and your whole staff are so dedicated, loving and kind and we can't thank you enough for all the kindness and love everyone has shown to my Mom, Phil's Mom ( Regina Feitelberg, photo below) and Cousin (Anne Silver, photo below) through the years. The Elms is an amazing place, and both Phil and I never miss the chance to tell others about how wonderful it is. How blessed and fortunate we are to have The Elms in our neighborhood.

Mom always tells us how she loves The Elms and is so happy to be living there. I tell others, if I get to the point where I need an assisted living facility, I want to move into The Elms to be surrounded by the wonderful management and staff who showers the residents with love, kindness and who are so dedicated to their job.

I hope you're having a good weekend, and again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making the exception for the visit today. (Oct. 11th)

A Family Gives Thanks

Dear Scott,

This is the day you never want to come, even though it is inevitable. My wonderful dad passed on September 11, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. Some would say that 95 years old is a good long life, while I can't disagree, knowing he's not there with his characteristic smile will take a long time to get used to. I will miss my visits and all of the faces and names I have come to know as well. You, Kathleen, Lorena, Ivonne, Karla, Ismary and all of the others whose names escape me but whose faces are as familiar as my own family.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the care and loving you gave my father.....even when he got feisty! The Elms became his home and I know that because I would ask him, his response was, you know, this place is OK! It was said in such a way that you knew he meant it.

As much as he wanted to stay at his home, he settled in at The Elms where he was safe and well cared for. The peace of mind you have given us is incalculable and we are forever indebted.

COVID-19 has taken so much from all of us, it has robbed us of the ability to show just how grateful we are, I would love to give all of you guys a hug and a handshake but sadly I can't. So I write, inadequate as this letter is please know that every word on this page is true. 

You are all angels and heroes to us and we will  never forget you, God Bless you.

Remarkable Caregivers

Dear Scott,
Yes, Raul was wonderful greeting us an making sure everything was safe as all of dad's things were taken from his apartment yesterday. We are picking up the grandfather clock today from the garage and Raul is aware.
I want to thank you for everything during dad's three years at the Elms. We feel very fortunate to have found such a great home for him during his last 3 years of an amazing life. You are very lucky to have the outstanding staff that you have. My sincerst thanks especially to Kathleen, Osi, Magda, and Ismary. Dad would not have survived without your the love, care and fun these remarkable caregivers gave to and shared with him.
I'm sure I won't be seeing any of you in person, but I send my sincere thanks and appreciation.

Feel at Home

Kathleen...what you give to Mom and all the other residents is something extremely extraordinary, and our Family is beyond grateful to you, Scott and every single person working at the Elms who keep our loved ones safe, content and made to feel as if they are loved and respected. There's something about this Residence that makes everyone who enters the doors feel at home. The best decision of our lives was having our mother move to The Elms, and I'm telling the truth when I say that you're all like our Family. Just stay safe and healthy, because as we worry about Mommy, (photo above) we worry about you all as well.

We were very grateful for the support you provided to our friend both financially and care wishes.

Maribel and her assistant were indispensable. I really value the way they went above and beyond to make sure she was safe. They will always have my gratitude for their partnership. I am also very grateful for the help that June Wider provided when we were trying to arrange for her placement. Overall a very caring team who made it all work.

My friend's situation was special, and we will always be grateful for the financial support of the Elms, Thank you Scott.

    For the "Angels" at The Elms who made over a week and a half in quarantine not only uniquely possible but who always greeted me with a smile on their faces and with out complaints. I never hear anyone groan about having to clean the same room 3 or 4 times within an hour or two, or having to take the extra time and steps to deliver food to the rooms. Food, I may add, which was always presented with attention to looking attractive and within reason, just what I wanted.
   If any residents or family wondered if our staff could handle a major flu attack, wonder no more. We all need to thank the "Elms Angels" for this care and attention to preventing further outbreaks.

We are so grateful to you and all your staff. There just no words to thank you enough. My sisters and I know that working with our Mom during those first few months was extremely challenging and required a lot of patience. But in the end, Mom was truly a "happy camper". She loved the activities, especially Sit 'n Be Fit, WII Bowling, Bingo and Jigsaw Puzzles as well as all the many music programs. She loved the food, especially the noontime soups. And she appreciated the care and assistance of your wonderful Med Staff. Mostly, Mom really loved all of you!

Famliy Thanks The Elms

My mother was a resident of The Elms for over four years. She passed away this holiday season at the age of 90. My brother and I couldn't have chosen a better place for our mother to live! We looked at several places and The Elms was by far the best choice. The staff is amazing! Everyone is very caring and attentive. They dispensed Mom's medications several times a day, checked on her routinely and kept me informed of any concerns. The staff has a true understanding of the challenges the residents face and always work with the residents in a caring, gentle and compassionate way. The lobby at The Elms is warm and inviting, the dining room beautifully decorated, and the rooms spacious and always kept clean. My mother brought her furniture, art, family photos and decorated her room in a way that made her feel at home.The food at The Elms is delicious! There is a variety of options and the residents can have their meals in their rooms if they are not feeling well. My family and I had dinner with Mom in the dining room many times and it was very enjoyable. There are many activities, musical performances and parties to attend. The activities staff is wonderful. They are always smiling and relate to the residents in such a positive way. They would always call and remind Mom when it was bingo or ask if she wanted to go downstairs for an event. I highly recommend The Elms to anyone looking for an assistant living community for their parent, relative or friend. It is truly an exceptional living environment for seniors who can no longer live alone.
