Great Decision

Hi Scott,

Don (photo above left Cira 2012 and right photo of daughter in law, Lin at The Elms 17th Anniversary back in 2013 and Don with daughter, Nancy celebrating his 96th birthday last June) is settling in at The Beehive in St. George, Utah. The Trip on Tuesday went very well and was the right call considering his advanced age.

Lorena and her staff have been fabulous these past two and a half years. All the care on the second floor contributed to Dad's being in great shape and able to travel. Lorena was terrific in helping me get everything organized for Dad's departure. I will never forget Dad's last birthday celebration-he was in good form as Marilyn danced and sang to some "oldies but goodies".

When Dad moved into #153 he did so much better than when he lived alone in his own house. The staff were wonderfully attentive and helpful especially as he slowed down and became less independent. He met and made some amazing friends in the dining room.

Kathleen was instrumental in helping Dad stay connected as his hearing and eyesight diminished. She always made sure Dad was included on Veterans Day. He was proud of his military service and appreciated being recognized.  Susan read to Dad regularly and they discussed mutually interesting topics. This is always tough with aging minds and bodies. Zoom calls allowed distant families to stay in touch. So many challenges and changes over the past two years.

August became a friend as Dad had increasing medical appointments. In my discussion with Dad about his upcoming move to Utah Dad asked if August would be driving him to the airport.

David at reception was always happy to help, and had a wonderful outlook and positive approach.

I would like to give a "Shout out" to Ismary, Magda, Meiling, Dora (hugs), Raquel, Ester, Carla and of course Dave meals are so important. There are so many caring and compassionate staff members that shared time with Dad and participated in his care. Could you please share this email across the community?

Moving to The Elms was a great decision for Dad.

Many, Many thanks!!!

My best to all and everyone,
Nancy
