 Dear Scott,

It is hard to believe that it's been over a week since Mom(Bessie, photo above) passed away. During this week, we have been reminiscing about all of the poignant memories and events that mad Mom's years living at The Elms so incredible.

As we have said to you and Kathleen many times before, everyone from Kathleen who created fun-filled and creative programming to the dining room staff ( Like David, Gus, Ketty) who prepared absolutely delicious and nutritious meals and served them with enthusiasm and love, to the pharmacy show dispensing of medication like Meiling and Magda, showering with respect and kindness ( like Dora & Yanette) to the ladies who cleaned Mom's apartment like Rosa, to the front desk staff like David and on and on who treated Mom like she was a family member of theirs. The respect, warmth, patience, love, joy and comfort of each staff member extended the quality of Mom's life immeasurably. We understand that staff does not act this way with enormous smiles and a joyful attitude unless they are treated respectfully themselves by management. What a tribute that is to you, Scott. In the years that Mom lived with you, we never once encountered one person working at The Elms who didn't have a smile on their face nor a pleasant word coming form their mouth.

There truly are no words to express the gratitude that we feel for everyone working at The Elms. We have talked about how we can best show our gratitude and appreciation to each employee, and decided that Mom would want us to contribute to the Holiday Gift Fund, an event that Mom felt passionate about.

We want to express once again our desire to volunteer at any time when you might need help...whether for office work or visiting residents who might not have family to visit. We also want to tell you that we would be honored to meet with anyone who would like to speak with a family member who can give a positive and personal recommendation.

Again, Scott, thank you so much for always being accessible to meet with our family when we had questions pertaining to Mom. Thank you as well for keeping the Elms so incredibly clean whether it was in individual rooms or the common areas or dining room. Thank you for the entertainment that was provided in order to keep the residents stimulated and active and thank you for always making sure that the residents and their family were greeted in the same manner in which we greet visitors entering our own homes. Finally thank you for providing meals that our Family always enjoyed and making it so pleasant to dine with Mom for lunch or dinner. During this challenging and difficult year, thank you especially for keeping our loved ones safe and healthy. Your consistent emails, explaining procedures and updates, were so very much appreciated.

How blessed we feel that our beloved Mom resided at The Elms with you and all the delightful staff and other residents. We always left The Elms feeling that our Mom was safe and well cared for. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With love, gratitude and respect,
